Ophtec is constantly developing new products for the treatment of cataract. One of our latest products is the Orange Series IOL a lens with a built-in light filter providing more visual comfort and retinal protection for the cataract patient.
The human lens is light brown to orange at middle age because of the age related condition of the retina. During and after retinal exposure, the retina begins to heal. This healing process is fast and easy in young people; in older people, it becomes slower and more difficult, which is why the lens does more filtering as people age.

This adjustment in the lens is usually in balance with the adjustments in the retina. Implanting an artificial lens that does not have the physiological absorption that matches the patient’s age will not restore the balance because there is too little absorption. Implanting an Orange Series IOL, however will restore the balance. The Orange Series IOL provides visual comfort and improved retinal protection.
