Intacs

Intacs

Intacs corneal implants are designed for the reduction or elimination of myopia and astigmatism in patients with keratoconus so that their functional vision may be restored.

Intacs are clear, micro-thin prescription inserts placed in the cornea. Intacs reshape the curvature of the cornea from within, working with the natural shape of an eye to correct mild nearsightedness.

Intacs consist of two PMMA segments that are inserted into the mid peripheral stroma, outside the central optical zone, the area most critical for clear vision. The result is flexible correction, designed to be permanent and adjustable. It can be reversed, if desired, upon removal of the product. Intacs can be replaced with a new prescription should one's vision change.

In the Netherlands and Belgium, Intacs are distributed by OPHTEC BV
