| The Rust Ring Remover may be used with a slit lamp | |
| Place the burr against the rust ring | |
| Start the motor by pressing lightly on the microswitch | |
| Use a "to-and-fro" circular movement (it often helps to indent the cornea a little so that the ring is folded around the burr as the scraping action takes place) | |
| Store the battery separately after the procedure | |
| Choose a burr size larger than the rust ring to be removed (large enough to cover the circumference of the ring) | |
| The motor stops immediately when the pressure on the microswitch is released | |
