OPHTEC continues to expand

New direct market Subsidiary in Germany

OPHTEC BV, a privately held medical device manufacturer that provides unique and high quality intraocular lenses, with its headquarters in Groningen, The Netherlands is entering the German market with a direct market subsidiary. The new direct selling point, OPHTEC GmbH, officially opened its doors in Hamburg on Friday, September 9, 2011.
     
Erik Jan Worst, President and CEO of OPHTEC BV: “The new subsidiary in Germany enables us to offer our products directly to the German surgeons. We can now personally accompany our customers, offering clinical know-how and competent advice. We look forward to this challenge and to establishing new contacts in our neighbouring country, traditionally one of the Netherlands’s most important foreign trade partners.”
     
The opening of the German subsidiary is an important step for OPHTEC with regard to achieving the company’s growing international presence. Recently OPHTEC opened subsidiary’s in Spain, South Africa, Japan and Hong Kong for Asia Pacific. The subsidiary in the USA was founded in 1996.
   
The new subsidiary will be managed by Mr. Arno Lindstädt. Arno is well known by surgeons and brings with him a long history of work in the German (domestic) and International ophthalmic markets. Arno Lindstädt: “Establishing a successful Ophtec Germany is a huge challenge one that I am ready and willing to accept”.
  
Ophtec BV produces patented intraocular lenses for refractive surgery, the Artisan and Artiflex lenses, which allow many patients to experience freedom from glasses. The company produces implants for cataract and trauma surgery as well.
   
The company has developed a range of unique products during its 28 years of existence among others the ARTISAN and ARTIFLEX PIOls, and has received “Innovative Business” awards on several occasions.”
