ARTISANĀ® haptics (fixation arms) attach to the midperipheral, virtually immobile iris stroma.

This so-called "Iris Enclavation" method:
- allows relatively unrestricted constriction and dilation of the pupil.
- ensures stable fixation to the iris because of the two diametrically opposed haptics.
- permits centration of the lens over the pupil.
- is extremely versatile, as Artisan Lenses may be fixated horizontally, vertically or obliquely.
- prevents pseudo-phakodonesis and the risk of post-operative decentration
Since its invention more than 20 years ago, the fixation principle of Artisan/Artiflex lenses has remained unchanged.
Fluorescein angiographic
Fluorescein angiographic studies by Strobel and Izák have shown no leakage of the iris vessels at the enclavation sites.
