First implantations Horizon Go

By Ophtec

What if cataract patients could achieve more intermediate vision without compromising the quality of their distance vision?

Our new hydrophobic Horizon Go IOL is designed to expand intermediate vision while preserving excellent distance visual quality. Combining an ingenious, purely refractive optic with a smooth surgical experience, this intraocular lens is already receiving positive feedback following its first implantations in Germany.

More intermediate Vision. Zero compromise.

Patients today expect more from cataract surgery than ever before. Clear distance vision alone is often no longer enough. Modern lifestyles demand seamless visual performance across a range of daily activities, from driving and outdoor pursuits to computer work, cooking, and social interaction.

At Ophtec, we believe patients should not have to choose between excellent distance vision and enhanced intermediate performance. That belief inspired the development of our Horizon Go intraocular lens (IOL). More intermediate vision, zero compromise.

Horizon Go is a new standard for cataract surgery. It provides excellent distance vision and enhanced intermediate vision through its ingenious, purely refractive optical design.

  • Optimised hydrophobic material
  • Fully preloaded,  2.2mm incision size
  • No visual artifacts for your patients

The optical design combines three distinct areas of aberrations:

  1. Distance Vision
Centrale base power free of aberrations provides excellent distance vision with no compromise.
  2. Intermediate vision
Controlled amount of positive spherical aberration for intermediate vision.
  3. Quality control
Slight negative spherical aberration to enhance quality a vision.

First Clinical Experience in Germany

This summer, the first Horizon Go implantations were successfully performed in Germany by PD Dr. med. Isaak Fischinger (Visionaer Augenzentrum Wittenberg) and Dr. med. Simo Murovski (Augenzentrum Erzgebirge). Both surgeons highlighted the lens's smooth unfolding and handling characteristics during implantation.

"The lens unfolded smoothly and demonstrated excellent handling in the eye." - PD Dr. med. Isaak Fischinger

"This was a moment I've been waiting for. Ophtec always brings something extras to the table." - Dr. Simo Murovski
